Temperature Correction Models for Soil Electrical Resistivity in Pearl River Delta

Abstract
The effect of temperature on the experimental data of soil electrical resistivity should be corrected using temperature correction models.Most of the existing temperature correction models have been developed from the measurements on the soil solution extracts or electrolyte solutions,but are also widely used on soils.The application of these models in soils with different textures may be questioned.Five types of soils with different textures in Pearl River Delta,including sandy soil,silty sand,silt,silty loam,and clay loam,are obtained to investigate the influence of temperature on soil electrical resistivity.The temperature varies from 5 to 45 °C,and the soil electrical resistivity is measured by the AC voltammetry method in Miller soil box with four-electrode configuration.Our study shows that most of the existing models,parameterized from data on soil solution extracts or electrolyte solutions,have limits of validity on the results of our laboratory experiments on soil samples.From our experimental data,four types of temperature correction models,of which the parameters depend on the soil textures,are determined at first by nonlinear regression analysis.However,the power function model is not proposed here since it is not suitable to describe the relationship between the soil resistivity and the temperature in the wide range of 5 to 45 °C.Then the uniform forms of the ratio model,exponential model and polynomial model independent of soil textures are developed and perform well on the soil data.关键词
