A result analysis on phage amplified biologically assay and smear method for detecting Mycobacterium tuberculosis

Abstract
Objective To compare the value of phage amplified biologically ( PhaB ) assay with that of smear method in detecting Mycobacterium tuberculosis.Methods The sputum specimens from 400 patients clinically diagnosed as pulmonary tuberculosis were detected by PhaB assay and smear method.The positive rate was counted.The sputum samples from 100 patients with nonpulmonary tuberculosis were detected by the same methods.The false positive rate was compared between the two groups.Results The positive rate of PhaB assay was significantly higher than that of smear method ( 58.5% vs.29.5%,P< 0.05 ); and there was no significant difference between the two groups in false positive rate ( P > 0.05 ).Conclusions Phage amplified biologically assay has a high positive rate and a low false positive rate as well as a shorter detection cycle.it can be used as a rapid diagnostic index in clinical application.关键词
