Study on the performance of carrier phase estimation for square m-QAM based optical coherent communication systems

Abstract
Based on the feed forward phase estimation algorithm.the performance of carrier phase estimation for square 16-QAM optical coherent systems is studied,improved further that the constellations of square m-QAM are not the optimal constellation for QAM-based systems with the phase noise.Simulation results show that the non-uniform phase separation of points in the constellation of square 16-QAM causes the continuous phase jumps in estimated carrier phase,which make the performance of carrier phase estimation degrade and the system BER increase about 2-3 times.关键词
