Abstract
In eukaryotes,cellular and systemic metabolism is primarily controlled by mitochondrial activity. The peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ coactivator la (PGC-lα) is an important regulator of mitochondrial biogenesis and function. There is currently much interest in PGC-la, focusing on two important characteristics: tissue-specific expression and induction of a specific signal. PGC-la is expressed at high levels in tissues where mitochondria are abundant and oxidative metabolism is active. The signal induction activity of PGC-la is clearly related to the cell's energy metabolism state. For example, cold, fasting and exercise all contribute to a increase in PGC-la expression.关键词
