Abstract
Objective: To investigate the changes of serum estradiol ( E2 ) and homocys-teine ( Hey ) in post-menopausal women with cerebral infarction, and to explore the correlation of E2 and Hey and their effect on outcome of patients with ischemic cerebral-vascular disease. Methods: Two hundred and fifty-four female patients were divided into menopause cerebral infarction group, menopausal non-cerebral infarction, non-menopausal cerebral infarction and non-menopausal non-cerebral infarction groups. The venous blood samples were obtained from patients and the E2 and homocysteine (Hey) levels in the serum were determined. Results:The Serum estradiol levels in menopausal cerebral infarction group were significantly decreased compared with those in the other three groups (P<C0. 05). The Serum estradiol levels in the non menopausal cerebral infarction group were significantly lower than those in the non menopausal non cerebral infarction group (P<C0. 05). The serum Hcy levels in cases in the menopausal cerebral infarction group were significantly increased relative to those in the other three groups (P<C0. 05). The Hcy levels in the non menopausal cerebral infarction group was significantly higher than that in the non menopausal non cerebral infarction group (P<C0. 05). The Serum estradiol levels were correlated negatively with homocysteine level in the postmenopausal women with cerebral infarction. Conclusion:Reduced estradiol levels correlate with elevated blood homocysteine levels,which may be involved in the pathological process of postmenopausal women with cerebral infarction.关键词
