摘要

Abstract

This paper presents a fiber-optic pipeline monitoring system,which is based on standard communication fiber cable buried together with the oil or gas pipeline. With the distributed fiber-optic disturbance sensor based on laser interferometer principal, the system can monitor and locate the vibration caused by mining, stealing and damage events in real-time. The practical tests were carried out in the oil pipeline of Tang Jin pipeline department and the natural gas pipeline between Hangzhou and Jiaxing. Its monitoring range can reach to 60km, and the locating accuracy is 250 m, respectively. The results show that, compared with the traditional pipeline monitoring methods, the system has advantages of long monitoring length, pre-warning monitoring, capable location and no external power supply.
