摘要

Abstract

A dual chamber microbial fuel cell(MFC) was constructed which used phenol as anode room fuel for the removal of nitrate from the wastewater in the cathode room.Two MFCs were operated simultaneously,one was closed-circuit system,and the other was open-circuit system.The results showed that phenol degradation rate in the closed-circuit system was 7.6 mg/(L·h)(twice faster than that of the open-circuit system);nitrate degradation rate in the closed-circuit system was 4.43 mg/(L·h)(twice faster than that of the open-circuit system).The results demonstrated that the MFC could remove two refractory substances from the wastewater.And this kind of wastewater treatment got higher biodegradation rate compared with the traditional biodegradable apparatus.
