Precipitation Behavior of α2 Phase in High Temperature Titanium Alloy and Effect on the Tensile Plasticity

Abstract
The increasing heat resistance requirement of high temperature titanium alloy is usually obtained by the means of adding high content of Al, Sn, Zr and Si. However, the tensile plasticity may decrease remarkably due to the precipitation of α2 phase and Silicide which precipitated after long-time thermal exposure. This paper studies the precipitation behavior of α2 phase of TG6 titanium alloy in the different heat treatment states and its influence on tensile plasticity. The results show that the optimal dynamic temperature for α2 precipitation in the α matrix is about 600℃ for TG6 titanium alloy. The α2 phase has a coherent orientation relationship and small misfit with the α matrix. The precipitation of a2 may promote the concentration of dislocation slip plane and block the cross slip which may result in a inhomogeneous distribution of slip band and thick slip band, which may lead a significant loss of tensile plasticity.关键词
