Abstract
Objective: To summarize the clinical application of a selective functional tumor dissection in the management of parotid superficial benign tumors. Methods: 112 tumor cases were retrospectively reviewed. Croup A (n= 72), tumor dissection was treated with different regional functional excision. Croup B (n= 40), cases were operated via routine surgical modality. The follow-up period was 1 week to 5 years. Postoperative complications and tumour recurrences were compared between these two groups. Results: No postoperative tumour recurrence occurred. There was significant difference (P<0.01) between the two groups on the complications of Frey's syndrome, postoperative numbness in the auricular lobule. The facial nerve dysfunction, the leak of saliva, facial contour disfigurement were also found statistically different (P<0.05) between the two groups. Conclusions: The significance of margin in regional functional excision in the treatment of benign tumors of superficial parotid gland should be considered.关键词
