Abstract
[Abstract] Objective: To assess the superiority of high-speed air turbine handpiece odontotomy in extraction of impacted mandibular third molar. Methods: Teeth extraction were randomly divided into two groups. Croup A, 195 impacted mandibular third molars were extracted using high-speed air turbine handpieces odontotomy; group B, 165 using traditional chisel leverage as the control group. Operating time, postoperative pain, facial edema, limitation of mouth opening, and incidence of dry socket were recorded. All statistical analysis were carried out with SPSS 13.0 for Windows. We used the Student t test to examine the differences. Results: There was significant difference between the two groups in operating time, aches, postoperative edema, limitation of mouth opening and incidence of dry socket (P<0.05). Conclusion: High speed air turbine handpiece odontotomy applying in extraction of impacted teeth can efficiently shortened operation time with fewer complications and easier manipulation.关键词
