Abstract

The pyrolysis experiment of carboniferous high sulfur coal form northwest area of China was made. The influence of different pyrolysis temperature (200 ℃ to 1 000 ℃) and different holding time (20 min to 100 min) on the changes of sulfur forms content were investigated. FTIR was used to analyze the coal samples and their products. The pyrolysis experiment shows that the total sulfur increases firstly with temperature rising and then decreases, reaching to the lowest at 600 'C. Sulfate sulfur content is low at a range of 0%-0. 5%. Pyrites sulfur decreases with the temperature. Organic sulfur content firstly decreases and then increases with the pyrolysis temperature rising. At 500 ℃, organic sulfur decreases to the lowest. The pyrites sulfur removed rate is higher than the rate of organic sulfur. The heteroatom functional groups of oxygen and sulfur in semi-cokes decrease with the rising temperature.
