Abstract

The mechanical activation pretreatment method was chosen to pretreate the bagasse and its effect on the saccharification of bagasse was studied. Moreover, structure and crystal performance of the original and pretreated bagasse were analysised by FTTR, XRD and SEM for revealing the pretreatment mechanism . Results showed that the mechanical activation pretreatment method could significantly enhance the enzymatic hydrolysis of bagasse. After 48 h enzymolysis, the total sugar yield was 59.34%, much higher than that from the original bagasse (19.86%). FTIR, XRD and SEM analysis confirmed that mechanical activation caused the intermolecular hydrogen bonds weakened, lowered the crystallinity and significantly disrupted the orderly surface structure of bagasse. These changes of bagasse pretreated with mechanical activation led to the increase of sugar conversion during bagasse enzymatic hydrolysis.
