摘要

Abstract

This paper described the ongoing study on the swelling potential classification and on-site monitoring design of the expansive soil for the Yangtze River-Hanjiang River Water Transfer Project Based on the unascertained average clustering method, a classification model of the expansive soil was established. Several field discriminating factors were selected in this model, and it was evaluated in terms of the classification of single samples. The grade sensitivity and grade weight level for each factor were then back analyzed based on the model evaluation, and a multi-factor weight scoring system for a rapid judgment of expansive soil in the field was developed. A statistical method of thickness stratification was proposed to classify the overall swelling potential of the expansive soil in the channel section. The in-situ monitoring and corresponding design proposal of water content, suction, pressure and lateral deformation of the expansive soil were discussed.
