Abstract
The census in 1953 caused the attention from Ma Yinchu who is a famous economist in China.Through field survey,he proposed ＂New Population Theory＂ in 1957,which analyzed the contradiction between population growth and the development of productive forces.Accordingly,he put forward the idea of population control.But as a result of ultra-left thought influence,＂New Population Theory＂ encountered criticism.A variety of critical essays related Ma Yinchu＇s ＂New Population Theory＂ with Malthus＇s population theory.They criticized that Ma Yinchu＇s ＂New Population Theory＂ is the new Malthusianism.This wrong criticism had caused serious consequence,and many economists were labeled as right-wing scholars.This stagnates the studies of population theory and causes a serious setback to family planning work.关键词
