Flood simulation flood storage and detention basin using 2-D numerical method

Abstract
Aiming at the characteristics of flood propagation in flood storage and detention basins, a high precision numerical model is developed by unstructurally dispersing the conservation form of 2-D shallow water equation. With this model, the second-order temporal and spatial discrete accuracy is obtained with numerical reconstruction through the calculating the interface numerical flux with the Roe' s approximate Riemann solver. Based on the calculating cases of both the square dam-break and supercritical flow, it is demonstrated that the model can capture the water surface discontinuity and deal with the problem of dry shoal satisfactorily with a higher numerical accuracy and reliable stability. The numerical model is applied to simulate the levee breach flood in Pangtoupao Flood Storage and Detention Basin in Heilongjiang Province, and then the process of the flood propagation therein is well simulated; from which the result can lay a basis for the decision-making of the flood control concerned.关键词
