A bibliometric evaluation of research on Snow Leopard ( Uncia uncia)

Abstract
Based on the analysis of the literatures indexed by the Science Citation Index (SCI) in 1950-2010 and by the Chinese Science Citation Database (CSCD) in 1980-2010, a biblio-metric evaluation was conducted on the distribution patterns of the literatures about snow leopard ( Uncia uncia) from the aspects of annual number, authors and their country origin, research in-stitutions, journal distribution, funding agencies, literature types, subject categories, and lan-guages. According to the quantities of the papers cited by SCI, the top four nations are the USA (50.6% ) , Britain (16.5% ), India (12.5% ), and China (5.6%). International Snow Leop-ard Trust and Edinburgh University are the first ranked paper-production institutions, and the Chinese Academy of Sciences takes the fifth place. The main research partners of China are from Britain, USA, and China neighboring countries such as Kyrgyzstan and Mongolia. In terms of the distribution range and the quantity of the snow leopard resources in the world, China ranks the first, but the related researches in this country do not match this situation, and need to do much more.关键词
