Abstract

Exogenous environmental factors play an important role in improving wheat {Tritivum aestivum L.) growth and development. Exogenous nitric oxide (NO), as one of the important factors, will take effect on the vital regulation for wheat growth, therefore, to ascertain regulation action of NO is very important for improving wheat yield. In this study, two wheat varieties (weak-spring wheat cultivar Yanzhan 4110 and semi-winter wheat cultivar Zhoumail8) were used as experimental materials to cultivate in screen house. Wheat leaves after two days of anthesis were exposed to 0, 0.075, 0.15 and 0.30 mmolL-1 SNP, respectively, and then the indexes of leaf area, chlorophyll content, photosynthetic physiology and yield components of maturity were measured. The results showed that exogenous NO could improve flag leaf area, RWC content, soluble sugar content, chlorophyll content, WUE, 1000-grain weight with different degrees. Compared to the control, the low concentrations (0.075-0.15 mmol-L-) of SNP reduced Y/G ratio significantly, while the high concentration SNP (0.30 mmol-L-1) showed the opposite effect. In summary, the regulation effect of exogenous NO on semi-winter wheat cultivar, is better than semi-spring cultivar. Moreover, it was demonstrated that the yield could be improved in Zhoumai 18 imposed by 0.30 mmol-L-1 SNP, and Yanzhan 4110 imposed by 0.15 mmol-L-1 SNP.
