摘要

Abstract

The hardware design of embedded license plate recognition system based on digital signal processor (DSP) TMS320VC5416 and complex programmable logic device (CPLD) is introduced in the paper. The system makes use of the video input processor SAA7111 to accomplish A/D conversion of video signal, and the data is saved into frame memory under the control of CPLD. The real-time processing and analysis of image data are conducted by DSP. The parallel running of image data gathering and processing was implemented through the structure of "ping-pong" memory. The recognition result was translated to host or saved in EEPROM through serial port. The off-line and on-line working of the license plate recognition system has been realized.
