Radar Phase-coded Waveform Design for Extended Target Detection by Convex Optimization

Abstract
In this paper, an efficient algorithm to solve the problem of radar phase-coded waveform design for extended target detection in cognitive radar is proposed. By using the semidefinite relaxation (SDR) technique, the non-convex signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) optimization problem is relaxed to a convex optimization problem. The approximate solution is acquired by solving the relaxed problem, and a one dimensional alternating maximization algorithm is applied to approach the optimal solution. The proposed algorithm is attractive in computational complexity, and can achieve accurate approximation. Simulation results show that the ability of finding the global optimal solution is greatly enhanced by the proposed algorithm compared to other techniques.关键词
