Choice to Innovation Modes Considering Absorptive Capacity and R&D Investment

Abstract
In order to gain competitive advantage, firms need to select a rational innovation mode under limited resources and capacity. In this paper, choice of innovation modes of firms was analyzed with evolutionary game theory, and impact of absorptive capacity and R&D investment on innovation modes choice was discussed. The results show that, impact of absorptive capacity and R&D investment is two-folds: stronger absorptive capacity leads firms to select radical innovation mode with higher probability and select incremental innovation mode with lower probability; while increase of R&D investment leads firms to select incremental innovation mode with higher probability and select radical innovation mode with lower probability.关键词
