Abstract
AIM To study the efficacy of melilotus extract tablet to decrease postoperative swelling, pain and exudation after thyroidectomy. METHODS A total of 120 patients with benign thyroid deseases were randomly separated into 2 groups (treatment group and control group). Treatment group received melilotus extract for 7 d from one day before operation, and so did control. After the symptoms including swelling, pain and exudation were scored, we compared the scores between 2 groups. RESULTS The symptomatic scores of treatment group were lower than those of control group at 48, 72 h, and the 6th day after operation. As melilotus extract tablet was used, compared with control, the ratio of scores of treatment group decreased. Postoperative swelling, pain and exudation were relieved 3 d earlier in melilotus extract group than in control group. All patients had no obvious adverse drug reactions in the period of drug therapy. CONCLUSION Melilotus extract tablet is effective and safe in the treatment of postoperative swelling, pain and exudation after thyroidectomy.关键词
