Abstract
Objective To assess the health - related quality of life in patients with inflammatory bowel disease ( IBD ) by inflammatory bowel disease questionaire ( IBDQ ). Methods Totally 172 patients from the in - hospital and clinical services in Peking Union Medical College Hospital were enrolled in this study. The severity of IBD was evaluated by Truelove criteria for ulcerative colitis ( UC ) and Harvey - Bradshaw criteria for Crohn's disease ( CD ). Patients were divided into three groups: mild group ( or remission group ), moderate group, and severe group. IBDQ was completed by interview. Nutritional status was evaluated by nutritional risk screening ( NRS2002 ). Results Totally 172 patients ( UC, n = 102; CD, n = 70; male, n = 95 , female, n =77 ) completed the IBDQ. The total score of IBDQ as well as all 4 domains negatively correlated with disease activity ( P < 0. 001 ). The IBDQ was able to discriminate between active and inactive CD ( P < 0. 001 ), but it could not discriminate between moderate active and severe active CD ( P =0. 366 ). There were no significant correlations between the total score of IBDQ and patient's diagnosis ( UC or CD ), age, sex, medical insurance, or nutritional risk (P>0. 05). Conclusion IBDQ is negatively correlated with the severity of IBD and therefore can be used to assess the health - related quality of life of patients with IBD.关键词
