Abstract
Objective To investigate the effects of music on the auditory and speechdevelopment of hearing-impaired children aged 3-4. Methods A total of 40 prelingually hearingimpairedchildren were randomly divided into experimental group and control group with 20children in each. The experimental group participated in a one-hour music training once a weekin the following five months. By contrast, the control group only received routine rehabilitationtraining. The musical ability was evaluated with the Musical Ears questionnaire. The auditoryand speech abilities were evaluated with the Auditory and Speech Ability Scale for Childrenwith Hearing Impairment before and after the experiment. Results (1)There was no significantdifference between the two groups in the auditory and speech abilities both before and afterthe experiment.(2)In the auditory ability test, all the scores of the experimental group after theintervention were significantly higher than those before the intervention, including the consonantrecognition rate (P<0.01), the vowel recognition rate (P<0.01), the double syllable recognitionrate (P<0.01), the short sentence recognition rate (P<0.01) and the total score (P<0.01). Thethree post-intervention scores of the control group were significantly higher than the preinterventionscores, including the consonant recognition rate (P<0.05), the vowel recognitionrate (P<0.05)and the total score (P<0.05).(3)In the speech ability test, the post-interventionscores of the experimental group and the control group were all significantly higher than the preinterventionscores, and the post-intervention score of theme conversation of the experimentalgroup was significantly higher than that of the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion The musictraining is one of the effective rehabilitation approaches, and can facilitate the auditory andspeech development of hearing-impaired children.关键词
