Abstract
Objective: To analyze the different population distribution characteristics of the consulting issues in Xiamen psychological crisis intervention hotline. Methods: The incoming calls from March 1 st, 2009 to February 28th, 2011 were classified into different groups according to consultation issues and analyzed based on gender, occupation, age, education level and marital status. The related factors of consulting calls with or without suicide risk factors were analyzed. Results: There were 1262 effective consultation incoming calls in total which were classified into 5 sorts of problems, including family issues 402 cases, mental problems 327 cases, relationship problems 309 cases, working, learning and financing issues 125 cases, and other life events 99 cases. There were significant differences among gender, occupation, age, education level and marital status in distribution of consulting problems (Ps < 0. OS). Male mainly consulted the mental problems, female mainly consulted the family issue, and students mainly consulted relationship problems. The group aged less than 18 years old mainly consulted working, learning and financing issues, the group aged 18-35 years mainly consulted relationship problems, the group aged 36 -55 years mainly consulted family issues, and the group 3s56 years mainly consulted mental problems. The cases with education level of high school or secondary technical school and below, and those current married, divorced, and widowed mainly consulted family issues. The logistic regression showed that the incoming calls with suicide risk were mostly in females, persons having jobs or aged 18-35 years. Multivariate logistic regression showed that the divorced or widowed group were more likely to commit suicide (OR = 1.87). Conclusion: It suggests that the consulting problems are related to the sex, age, occupation, education and marital status of the incoming callers, and crisis intervention hotline consultants should have a good knowledge and pay more attention on mental illness population due to occupation or marital problems.关键词
