Comparative Study of Determination of Standardized Ileal Digestibility of Amino Acids in Growing Pigs Fed Corn Distillers Dried Grains with Solubles Using Two Inert Markers

Abstract
This experiment was conducted to examine the effect of determination of standardized ileal digestibility (SID) of amino acids in growing pigs fed corn distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGS) using either chromic oxide or titanium dioxide. Six growing barrows (Duroc X Yorkshire x Landrace, initial body weight, 35.1 +2.1 kg) fitted with simple T-cannulas were allotted to a 6 X 6 Latin square design with 6 periods and 6 diets. Four DDGS diets were prepared using either chromic oxide or titanium dioxide, and the last two diets were nitrogen-free diets. The results showed that among all the amino acids, the SID values of lysine and tryptophan were the lowest. In addition, except for the histidine and phenylalanine, there were no significant differences for the SID values calculated using either chromic oxide or titanium dioxide (P>0.05). The results indicated that both chromic oxide and titanium dioxide can be effectively used in conducting amino acid digestibility studies in corn DDGS.关键词
