Abstract
Objective:To discuss effects of laparoscopic resection of rectal cancer using CONTOUR curved cutter stapler via a transverse inferior abdominal incision. Methods: From 2010 to 2011 .clinical data of 18 patients who suffered from inferior rectal cancer and underwent laparoscopic operation using CONTOUR curved cutter stapler via a transverse inferior incision was retrospectively analyzed. Results: All the 18 operations were successfully performed with no conversion to open surgery. The operative time was 150-240 min (average 180 min),and mean blood loss was 160 ml. No anastomotic leakage was observed. Conclusions:The operation using CONTOUR curved cutter stapler is safe and effective. The inferior transverse ventral incision is hidden and appropriate for laparoscopic operation of rectal cancer with satisfactory cosmetic effect
