Expression and significance of centromere protein B (CENP-B) in breast cancer
摘要
Abstract
Purpose To investigate the expression level and clinicopathologic significance of centromere protein B ( CENP-B ) in breast cancer. Methods CENP-B mRNA and protein expressions in 4 pairs of breast cancer biopsies and their matched adjacent tissues were detected by RT-PCR, Q-PCR and Western blot, respectively. Immunohistochemincal analysis was used to examine the expression of CENP-B protein expressions in 53 cases of paraffin-embedded breast cancer tissues. The correlation between CENP-B expression with clinicopathologic features was analyzed by SPSS 10. 0. Results CENP-B was positively detected in 90. 6% ( 48/53 ) paraffin-embedded breast cancer tissues, and it was strongly expressed in 52. 8( 28/53 ) samples. The CENP-B protein level was higher in cancer cells than that in adjacent non-cancerous areas. Statistical analysis displayed that strong expression of CENP-B was significantly associated with clinical stage and T classification, while not with age, lymph node involvement and distant metastasis. Conclusion CENP-B may serve as a valuable molecular marker for prediction of breast cancer development and progression.关键词
