On the DC Transient Overvoltage in the Converter Stations of ±800 kV Xiluodu Zhexi HVDC Project

Abstract
For an UHVDC power system,the over-voltage level of its converter stations impacts directly on the insulation coordination of the stations equipments and the reliability of the system operation.With Xiluo-Zhexi ±800 kV UHVDC transmission project as an object,this paper makes simulations on various typical fault conditions such as ground fault on the valve side of HV/LV converter transformer,phase-to-phase switching impulse from AC side,full-voltage starting and DC line fault,resulting in the maximum values of over-voltage and energy for related arresters in Xiluodu and Zhexi stations,and thus providing basis for the insulation coordination design of the station equipments as well as their type selection,manufacture and test.关键词
