社区居民对会展业经济影响感知研究——以广州琶洲村村民为例
Urban Village Residents' Perception on Economic Impact of MICE Industry:A Case Study of Pazhou Village

Abstract
The Canton Fair and the Pazhou International Exhibition Center have become the icons of the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferencing, Exhibitions) industry of Guangzhou. Pazhou Village, located near the Exhibition Center, is a typical example of the urban village whose urbanization is promoted by the MICE industry. In this paper, the perception of the village community residents about the economic impact of the development of MICE industry on the community is examined, and the content, structure and feature of the perception are explained. The study is different from the previous ones in two aspects: one is that its attention is not paid to the sport events or festivals but the continuous economic impact of the large-scale exhibitions and conferences on the neighboring community, the other is that it is not applying the universally applicable quantitative approach but the qualitative analysis to investigate the social exchange relationship and the community residents' perception on the economic impact. The findings indicate that: The community residents now heavily rely on MICE industry, since the industry offers them main income and employment. The residents bear more optimistic perception than negative, that may reduce the passive factors from the industry. The community residents are not content with the current external exchange relationship and are looking forward to a higher-level one.关键词
