Abstract
Synthesis as well as salt tolerance and interfacial properties of polyoxyethylene (3) cetyl elher carboxylate ( C16AEC ) was investigated. Results showed that C16AEC can be synthesized by using polyoxyethylene (3) cetyl ether as starting material and a maximum yield, 83. 8% , can be achieved at appropriate conditions. Chemical structure of the product was characterized by IR and MS spectra. C16AEC has a high tolerance to Na+ ,as NaCl aqueous solution with mass concentration of 135 g · L-1 at 45 ℃,which is similar to that of typical salt resisting surfactant polyoxyethylene (3) lauryl ether sulfate (C12AES). However, tolerance to di -valence ions (Ca2+ and Mg2+) of C16AEC shows a common value as mass concentration of 0. 5 and 1. 8 g · L-1 of CaCl2 and MgSO4 aqueous solution respectively. Optimum salinity and middle phase salinity range of C16AEC microemulsions are also similar to that of C12AES. Surface active properties of C16AEC are excellent as indicated by its low cmc at an order of magnitude of 10-5 mol · L-1 under both 25 and 45 ℃ and low γcmc of less than 30 mN · m-1. C16AEC shows good lipophilicity. By blending with amphoteric surfactants,and at a total surfactant mass fraction of 0. 1% - 0. 3% under 45 ℃ , C16AEC can reduce the interfacial tension of Daqing crude oil/strata water to an order of 10-3 mN · m-1 without adding any alkaline or neutral electrolyte.关键词
