Abstract

In loess hilly and gully region, fluctuating land surface forms microrelief. Microrelief-based vegetation arrangement has become an important method in ecological restoration and construction. By using sampling surveys and random sampling, the biomass and the soil water content were surveyed by TDR on microrelief and the corresponding original slope in Hejia valley, Wuqi County, Shaanxi Province. Results showed that the coefficient of variation of microrelief soil water decreased with the increase of soil depth. The varia- tion coefficient of soil water (0--60 cm soil) at scarp was the biggest (0. 259) while at shallow gully was the smallest (0. 226). In terms of soil water on sunny slope and soil water, landform units might be ranked in the descendant order of collapse, gully〉platform〉collapse〉shallow gully〉original slope〉scarp, in addition, the sequence of vegetation arrangement was eollapse〉gully〉shallow gully〉original slope〉platform 〉scarp, and the vegetation arrangement of microrelief was correlated negatively the variation coefficient of soil water (0-60 cm depth of soil).
