Abstract

At present, using FBG to measure the temperature of cable is becoming an important means of on-line monitoring and evaluating the insulation of XLPE cable. In this paper, the principle of demodulating measurement results of FBG by F-P filter is introduced, and the inherent defects of this method is pointed out by experiment. To overcome this defect and to improve the measurement accuracy, an F-P etalon is used to detect the drift of wavelength. The F-P etalon can completely avoid the impact of the nonlinear relationship between filtered wavelength and tuning voltage, which improves the accuracy of the fiber Bragg grating. A system with three-phase 110kV XLPE cable connector is measured in laboratory, and the measurement error can be controlled within ± 0. 4 ℃, which shows that the system has good engineering practicability.
