Study on the process of etherifying DMDHEU resin with glycol

Abstract
The process of etherifying DMDHEU resin with glycol was introduced. The influences of amount of glycol, reacting time, temperature and pH value on the properties of etherified DMDHEU resin were discussed. The optimum etherfying process was obtained by analyzing the methyl formaldehyde content and free-formaldehyde content of resin, and the free and hydrolyzed formaldehyde content, wrinkle recovery and tearing strength of finished fabric, the optimum condition of etherifying process was determined: the amount of glycol was 24%(on the mass of DMDHEU), reacting temperature was 55~57 ℃, the reacting time was 4 h and pH was 3.2. The free-formaldehyde of etherified resin was lower than 0.3%. The free and hydrolyzed formaldehyde of the finished fabric was reduced to 33.18 mg/kg, while the crease recovery angle improved about 100° compared with the untreated cloth and the tearing strength retention both in warp and weft was above 50%.关键词
