Abstract

A selective bottom ash discharging device (SBADD) for the circulating fluidized bed (CFB) boiler was developed. The SBADD can be used to achieve the selective discharge on the bottom ash and to return the fine particles back to the furnace to improve the bed material size distribution. Experiments about the gas-solid flow characteristics were conducted in a visible cold test rig. The experimental results show that the operation time, the fluidized velocity and the partition height have important impact on the particle separation of the separation chamber. The particle separation effect can be controlled by the fluidized velocities of the separation chamber and the main bed. Only when the fluidized velocity ratio (~ between the separation chamber and the main bed isξ〉1.43, the SBADD can obtain a good particle separation effect.
