Abstract
Aerobic granular sludge seeded with conventional activated sludge was cultivated in sequencing batch reactors using simulated soya-bean milk wastewater. The effects of the particle size of activated carbon powder, aeration rate and settling time on the formation of aerobic granular sludge were studied. The result shows that the optimal cultural conditions of aerobic granular sludge are. aeration rate of 1.4 cm/s, settling time of 2 rain and the particle size of activated carbon powder of 140 meshes. The surface and the inner part of matured aerobic granular sludge showed activated carbon. And the surface of matured aerobic granular sludge showed large a- mounts of bacteria and filamentous intertwined and wrapped each other. The inner part of granular sludge presented pore and layer structure with facultative anaerobic bacteria. Aerobic granular sludge has good mechanical strength;the settling velocity is 5 times more than the conventional activated sludge. The COD loading rating and percent COD removal are 2.6-3.2 g/L·d and 70%- 94%, respectively when all the sludge is granulation.关键词
