Abstract
Acute kidney injury, with high morbidity and mortality, is a severe threat to health and life of patients. Aquaporin-1 is a kind of channel protein expressed abundantly in renal proximal tubular epithelial cells. The level of aquaporin-1 dramatically changes during the process of acute kidney injury, and, after a treatment of renoprotective drugs, it returns to a normal level. Studies on the mechanism suggest that aquaporin-1 plays a potent protective role in acute kidney injury by participating in migration of epithelial cells and by regulating epithelial-mesenchymal transition. Aquaporin-1 as a putative target might provide a novel lead in discovering drugs for acute kidney injury.关键词
