Abstract
The activated carbon were modified by the chemical immersion method using nitric acid, sodium hydrate, ferric trichloride, sodium alginate as modifiers. Moreover, the adsorption for the Cr( VI ) by as-pre- pared products was investigated. The results shows that activated carbon modified with the ferric trichloride or modified with both sodium hydrate and ferric trichloride (referred to as PAC-3 and PAC-6) attained the highest adsorption capacity. Under the condition of (20 _+ 1 ) ~C, 25 mL Cr( VI ) solution of 30 mg/L was treated with 0.25 g PAC-3 for 90 min at pH 4.02, the adsorption rate for the Cr( VI ) aqueous solution can reach 98%. After the adsorption, PAC-3 can regenerate by elution with 0. 1 mol/L sodium hydrate. Also, the effect of coexist sub- stance on Cr(VI) adsorption confirms that the sodium carbonate and sodium sulfate has an inhibiting effect. The sodium carbonate exhibits a significant effect on the Cr(VI) adsorption, while sodium nitrate and phosphate has no effect. The proposal mechanism of adsorption Cr(VI) includes the combination of electrostatic force, redox, and ion exchange function.关键词
