Abstract
Objective To explore the management of petrosal vein and its branches during microvascular decompression. Methods 187 cases with trigeminal neuralgia were treated with microvascular decompression. During the operation, the location and branches of petrosal vein were investigated. The main stem and the branches of petrosal vein were protected. The small branches which compressed or affected the exposure of trigeminal nerve were sacrificed. Results We found petrosal vein in all the cases. Petrosal vein were classified by number of main stem: single-stem (17 cases,9. 1% ), double-stem (102 cases, 54. 5%) and triple-stem (68 cases, 36. 4% ). 18 cases were found venous compression. Pain free and partial pain relief was achieved in 15 and 2 respectively. Conclusions The correct management of petrosal vein would decrease the complication during microvascular decompression.关键词
