An Urban System Study of County Region in Western Gnangdong Province Based on Fractal Theory

Abstract
Fractal theory was used to analyze the hierarchical scale structure and the spatial distribution of county region in western Guang- dong Province. The results show： the fractal dimension of size - scale structure （q） is 0.9884 〈 1, indicating the loose size - scale structure and the weak taw of：the primate city; the number and the scale of the small cities showed low- level development, and the number of middlerank cities is more so the urban system of county region in western Guangdong is not developed; the fractal dimension of spatial distribution （D） is 0.9304 〈 1, which shows big correlation of towns and close spatial distribution with advantages of strong ties and mutual development. At last, some suggestions for how to optimize the urban system of county region in western Guangdong were given.关键词
