摘要

Abstract

In the article, the latest progress on metabolic engineering of Yarrowia lipolytica is presented Y. lipolytica is non-pathogenic (GRAS, generally regarded as safe), widely distributed in various environments including marine and polar region, also, it has an excellent expression, system, some strains of it can accumulate proteins or oils, or secrete citric acid. Furthermore, it has been reported that Y. lipolytica is capable of secreting two natural proteases (alkaline extracellular protease and acid protease) and degradates hydrocarbons. It was found that after the yeast cells are genetically modified, some renewable materials such as inulin can be used by the enginnered yeasts. The engineered yeasts can use inulin to accumulate protein and oils and secrete citric acid. Many industrially important enzymes can be synthesized by the engineered yeasts. Therefore, the metabolically engineered Y. lipolytica can be widely used in bioenergy, food, pharmaceutical and marine cultural industry.
