摘要

Abstract

Objective To compare the blood sugar value between the household portable blood glucose meter and the automatic biochemistry analyzer in order to find reasons and to propose corresponding solutions. Methods Five hundred and eight household portable blood glucose meters were used to detect the fasting blood sugar of diabetic patients. First, the examination was done using the habit method, which was then changed to a standard method after training. Meanwhile, venous blood samples were collected and serum glucose levels were determined by the automatic biochemistry analyzer. All the obtained results were recorded and compared. The non-standard methods in the process of blood sampling, testing, keeping and related knowledge awareness were surveyed and analyzed, such as blood sampling site, disinfection method, etc. Results Diabetes patients were of low awareness on portable glucose meter related knowledge, and after training, the accuracy of using portable blood glucose meter was significantly increased. Differences in test results leaded by 88(17.3%) portable blood glucose meters were completely due to the equipment failure. Conclusion Professional training can reduce errors, and improve accuracy. Furthermore, regular calibration and quality control on portable glucose meter are also suggested to improve the life quality of diabetes patients.
