Abstract
Objective To explore the influence of sperm morphology on fertilization rate during in vitro fertilization.Methods Five hundred and sixty-one couples undergone IVF treatment in 2010 were recruited in this study.They were divided into four groups according to husband's sperm morphology: normal spermatozoa morphology <4%,4%-9%,9.5%-14%,and >14%.Results The overall fertilization rate was 71.00%.The fertilization rates of the normal spermatozoa morphology <4%,4% -9%,9.5%-14% and >14% groups were 53.19%,71.33%,71.30% and 72.27%,respectively.The fertilization rate in normal spermatozoa morphology <4% group was significantly lower than that in the other 3 groups (P<0.05).Conclusions Sperm morphology is related to the fertilization rate in IVF.The normal spermatozoa morphology <4% significantly predicts the lower fertilization rate.Therefore,sperm morphology analysis can provide evidence for the clinicians whether to choose IVF or ICSI (intra-cytoplasmic sperm injection),and thus can avoid some of the fertilization failure.关键词
