Abstract

Objective To evaluate the therapeutic effect on children amblyopia of multimedia visual exercise system, the therapeutic effect on children amblyopia of multimedia visual exercise system was compared with occlusion treatment. Methods In this prospective randomized trial, 195amblyopic children (347eyes) were divided into two groups with either multimedia visual exercise system or occlusion treatment, visual acuity two groups have been followed up for 6 months. Results The total effective rate was 90.0% in 100 children (180 eyes) treated by multimedia visual exercise system. 82.0% was in others 95cases (167eyes) treated by occlusion therapy. There was no statistical difference. There was some statistical difference between 6-12 age groups (P<0.05) in the total effective rate. The clinical curative effects were closely related to children ages and degrees of amblyopia. The younger, the better efficiency in the occlusion group (P<0.05). There was no interrelation between multimedia visual exercise treatment with age (P>0.05). Conclusions The therapeutic effect on children's amblyopia by the multimedia visual exercise system was better than traditional treatment in school children. Meanwhile, there was no interrelation between multimedia visual exercise treatment with age. It is higher effect for any children ages, and the compliance occlusion therapy is better than the therapeutic effect on children's amblyopia by the multimedia visual exercise system.
