Effects of three pretreatment methods on improving the permeability of Poplar wood

Abstract
Permeability reflects difficulty level of fluids moving through wood, which is one of the most important physical properties of wood, and the increase of permeability can also raise drying rate and impregnating treatment effects during wood modification. For improving permeability of Poplar wood, the steaming, hot water and explosion pretreatment methods were used, and the test results showed these three methods significantly improved the permeability of Poplar wood. The permeability increased with time extension at the same temperature after streaming and boiling treatment; in the same period of time, permeability under high-temperature treatment was better than that of low temperature. At the same explosion temperature, the permeability under high-pressure treatment was better than that of low pressure, and the permeability under high-temperature treatment was better than that of low temperature at the same pressure.关键词
