Abstract

Supercapacitor polymer material was prepared by oxidation of aniline and p-phenylenediamine, and the influence of p-phenylenediamine on the specific capacitance of polymer materials was studied. The polymer material was characterized by cyclic voltammetry, galvanostatic charge-discharge, electrochemical impedance, FT-IR and TG. The results indicate that the specific capacitance of the polymer material can be improved through controlling p-phenylenediamine and aniline within a certain percentage. With the molar ratio of p-phenylenediamine to aniline of 2 : 8, the maximum specific capacitance of polymer material can reach 756 F/g (1 A/g), 1.26 times as high as the specific capacitance of polyaniline prepared under the same conditions. Moreover, the polymer material can still maintain significant advantages in capacitance and has low charge transfer resistance for high current density. Further analysis shows that the polyaniline containing p-phenylenediamine can increase the theory pseudo-capacitance through increasing the content of quinone rings.
