摘要

Abstract

The olivine-structured LiFePO4 is one of the most promising cathode materials of lithium ion batteries due to its excellent thermal stability, great cycle stability and environmental benignity, but its poor electronic conductivity (10-9 S/cm) and the low Li-ion diffusion (10-11 S/cm) severely influence the high-rated charge and discharge properties and low temperature performance. In addition, the lower theoretical density (3.6 g/cm3) also has an impact on the improvement of energy density. Here, according to the high-rate performance, low temperature performance and energy density of LiFePO4 for high power lithium-ion batteries, the influences of morphology controlling, conductive materials coating and metal ions doping on the electrochemical properties and energy density of LiFePO4 were summarized and discussed. The major goal was to highlight the recent development and challenges of LiFePO4 and to present the research direction in the future.
