摘要

Abstract

To investigate the swelling characters of the specimen for press-compacted bentonite-sand mixtures,laboratory tests were conducted on pressed-compacted mixture of GMZ bentonite and quartz sand in different sand content.Results obtained were contrasted with the data for hammer-compacted received before;they indicated that the test points of swelling character for pressed-compacted mixture with high density were equally distributed on the fitted curve obtained by hammer-compacted mixture with low density.This proved that the swelling characters of the test specimens made by both hammercompacted and press-compacted were of complete consistency,so these two modes for constructing buffer/backfill material can be selected free as needed.Simultaneously,the regression relationships that with the increase of dry density,the max swelling pressure increase exponentially while the max swelling strain increase linearly were verified,also it was proved that the variation trend of swelling character was identical for both high and low density range with the change of sand addition.
