摘要

Abstract

Low temperature plasma treatment was used for PET film surface modification. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) , x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and contact angle measurements were used to characterize the changes occurred in the physical and chemical properties of the PET films upon plasma treatment. SEM results show plasma etching effects on the film surface. XPS results show an increase in the O/C and N/C ratio in the surface chemical composition for sample even with short plasma exposure time. The increase in oxygen-containing groups (such as C—O/C—N,C —O,C — O—O)made the films surfaces show considerable improvement in surface wettability and surface free energy.
