Abstract
Objective To compare the impact of shear bond strength on fiberglass post under between total-etching adhesives and self-adhesives. Methods Thirty extracted intact premolar teeth were randomly divided into A and B groups with 15 teeth in each group. The roots of each teeth were prepared and in A group, total-etching adhesives ( Luxa-Bond ) and Z-Dual resin ( LuxaCore) were used to bond 1. 25 mm-diameter fiberglass post ( LuxaPosI) to root canals. In B group, resin reinforced cement ( RelyX Unicem) was used to bond 1. 30 mm-diameter fiberglass post ( RelyX). Universal mechanical testing machine was applied to each tooth to measure the shear bond strength. Results All fiberglass posts showed fractures in A group, while no fiberglass posts showed fractures in B group; the results of shear bond strength indicated a statistically significant difference between total-etching adhesives and self-adhesives by two independent T-test (P<0.05). Conclusion The applications of total-etching adhesives could greatly improve the bond strength between fiberglass post and root canals.关键词
