Modeling and Analysis on Self-Infrared Radiation Characteristics of Whole Aircraft Skin

Abstract
This article presents a synthetic method for calculating the self-Infrared Radiation (IR) emitted from whole aircraft-skin. By building gridding and compartmentalizing surface on three-dimensional figure, an infrared signature model for solving the complex geometry and structure of a fighter is proposed with observability and shielding judging on surface element. The article contains calculation of the whole aircraft's horizontal and lateral long wave IR intensity with different Machs 1.2, 1.4, 1.6 and different emissivities 0.7, 0.8, 0.9, 1.0; and the aircraft components that emit the most IR in observation angle are investigated. The results indicate a linear relationship between the skin emissivity and IR intensity in 8-12 μm band; skin temperature changing by aviate status alteration obviously influences IR intensity. When viewing from the front, there are fuselage, vertical stabilizer and head that contribute more to the IR intensity, and fuselage, wings, vertical stabilizer become the major source of IR in broadside view. The results provide useful reference in designing stealthy aircraft.关键词
